Handmade Or Commercial

Did you ever pick up a bar of soap and read the ingredients? Can you? Do you understand what the ingredients are? Try it. Another question is Where does your soap come from?

As I sit to ponder these questions I pick up a couple of bars of soap at the supermarket. I take a photo of the labels and then sit down to do some research. I quickly realize that the soaps that I used to use are full of synthetic antioxidants, detergents, synthetic preservatives and emulsifiers. I also realize that some are not even made in this country.

I think about how I sometimes treat myself to what I might consider a luxury cup of coffee, get a pedicure or indulge in a special treat. I quickly realize that we all need that thing that makes us feel good about ourselves and how the things we value impact our lives.

I realize that to some people the simple act of taking a shower or bath can just be to cleanse our bodies, but to some it is a personal time of reflection and self care. Ever since I started using the soaps I make I have not turned back. I realize how important it is to me to know exactly what is going in to the soap I make. I am proud of my handmade soap.

We seek to be better at the things that help our environment, our community and our world. The simple acts can make a change. Let’s plant a seed, lets start something. Support your community or small business and be a part of something big.
